Tantric Massage Notting Hill
Notting Hill is an affluent, vibrant and trendy enclave in west London with pastel-coloured Victorian townhouses, high-end shopping boutiques, tree-lined streets and plenty of bars, restaurants and pubs. It is a cosmopolitan and multicultural place that hosts the annual Notting Hill Carnival and is home to Portobello Road Market. This famous daily street market is packed with stalls selling just about everything from antiques to artisan cheeses.
Notting Hill hasn’t always been a well-heeled neighbourhood. Two centuries ago, the area was a wasteland, and even as recently as the 1950s and ’60s, it was known as a slum area. The cheap rents at this time attracted many Afro- Caribbean immigrants, but racial tensions often arose, and they were targeted by white youths in the 1958 Notting Hill race riots. The following year the precursor of the Notting Hill Carnival took place as a response to the difficult race relations.
During the late 20th century, the area witnessed a period of gentrification, particularly as members of the upper-middle class, moved in, such as media celebrities and politicians. In the early 2000s, a group of politicians was given the nickname ‘the Notting Hill set’ because they used to live in the area. They included former Prime Minister David Cameron and former Chancellor George Osborne.
Notting Hill lies in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and is served by numerous bus routes and a clutch of underground stations. They are Notting Hill Gate (Circle, District and Central lines), Westbourne Park station (Circle and Hammersmith and City lines) and Ladbroke Grove station (Circle and Hammersmith and City lines).
Days and Nights Out in Notting Hill
In addition to the many pubs, bars, restaurants, boutiques and market there are lots of other things to see and do in the west London neighbourhood. They include:
The Museum of Brands, Packaging & Advertising – dedicated to the history of consumer culture from the Victorian era to the present day.
The Electric Cinema – one of the oldest working cinemas in the UK first opened its doors in 1910.
Kyoto Garden – a traditional Japanese garden located in Holland Park, boasting tiered waterfalls, Japanese maple trees and a pond full of koi carp.
